Geogroup was founded in 1988, and was from the start operating as a distributor of ESRI software under the name Geodata. The company has been faithful to its core business; the distribution of geographical information systems (GIS) and consultancy services in connection with implementing and using GIS.
Powerful market trends towards cost efficient IT solutions based on GIS-powered analysis and resource management are driving the GIS market. Coupled with strong technological developments in the GIS field, especially linked with Web GIS, mobile trends and 3D, the need for a more flexible and focused organization emerged. The holding company Geogroup was therefore founded in 2008, and has today 100 % ownership of its two subsidiaries, Geodata and Geoinsight.
